DNR Seeks $33 Million To Restore State Parks
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The DNR is asking the state for $33 million to restore state parks and recreational buildings across Minnesota.
The DNR said Itasca State Park, the state's oldest state park, is really in need of help. Itasca attracts more than 500,000 visitors each year. The Mississippi headwaters are one of its most popular attractions.
The money would also be used to fix the sewer system at Douglas Lodge, reopen the Nicollet Court building, improve park safety, upgrade public water access and reforest 800 acres, the DNR said.
