DNR: $5K Reward Offered For Info On Fires Near Little Falls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The DNR announced Monday that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of an arsonist suspected of starting two potentially dangerous wildfires last month near Little Falls.

Officials say the first wildfire flared up on April 14, near the intersection of Hawthorn Road and 185th Avenue. The other wildfire started the next day, along 11th Street Northeast. Either of the fires grew large, as fire crews were able to respond quickly knock them down.

On April 15, the day the second fire was started, there was a red flag warning in effect, the DNR said. Under such conditions, with high winds and low humidity, wildfires can move fast and burn with extreme intensity.

Officials say the fires could have threated homes and other buildings in area. They added that arson wildfires cost Minnesota tax payers millions of dollars each year.

Anyone with information on the arsonist is asked to call the Morrison County Sheriff's Office at 320-632-9233. To remain anonymous, call the arson tip line at 800-723-2020.
