Ellison Faces Off With DNC Chair Candidates In Debate

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Democratic National Committee is days away from electing its new leader. On Wednesday night, the eight candidates took part in a debate on CNN.

Among the topics were strategies for the 2018 midterm elections, rebuilding the Democratic party, and the DNC's role under the Trump administration.

Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison is viewed as one of the front-runners for the chairman position.

"When Democrats lose elections, you know, bad things happen to good people, and we cannot stand back and tolerate it," Ellison said at the Debate. "The tool we have at our disposal is to win elections."

If he wins, Ellison has promised to resign from his seat in Congress in order to focus on the DNC full-time.
