Dive Operations Suspended For Missing Paddle Boarder On Lake Waconia

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say dive operations in the search for a missing paddle boarder on Lake Waconia have been suspended, but other search efforts remain ongoing.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office has been at Lake Waconia since last Saturday looking for any signs for Andrew John Stifter after family found his empty paddle board not far from the south shore. At the time, he was on the lake photographing wildlife. Stifter is married with two children, and his wife is expecting their third child.

Dozens of people were out looking for Stifter on Monday before search efforts were called off due to darkness.

Authorities say while dive operations have been suspended, they'll continue looking with their water patrol boat and electronic devices. They are also searching land adjacent to the lake, including the island.

An Andrew Stifter Family Fund has been set up on GoFundMe.
