Teen Once Hit By Bus Speaks Out On Distracted Driving

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A boy who survived getting hit by a school bus wants drivers to pay better attention to crosswalks.

A bus ran over 15-year-old Isaac Schneider as he walked to Como Park High School in St. Paul last spring. On Tuesday afternoon, Isaac, his mother and members of his school robotics team met near the crosswalk where he got hit.

They want drivers to know that stopping for pedestrians isn't just courteous -- it's the law.

"It's amazing. Driving down the interstate, you glance over at another driver and they've got their cell phone in their hand and they're texting away while they're driving," driver Michelle Larson said. "People just aren't paying attention."

State law requires drivers to stop for pedestrians crossing the street at all intersections-- Whether there's a crosswalk or not.
