Man, 23, Charged In Fatal Dinkytown Stabbing

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing that occurred in Dinkytown Thursday night.

According to the criminal complaint, Brandon Kenneth Bockoven has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a man near University and 13th avenues around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The complaint states police responded to a vehicle near that area on a stabbing call. When they arrived, officers found a man bleeding heavily in the passenger seat. He was transported to a hospital and later died from his wounds.

Bockoven was in the driver's seat of the vehicle, according to the complaint. He told officers he stabbed the victim and gave them a blue folding knife when they asked where the weapon was.

A witness, who was also in the car, said Bockoven and the victim were arguing over money when Bockoven stabbed the victimin the torso.

Bockoven later admitted to police that he stabbed the victim twice. He is currently in custody.
