Devoted Hockey Mom Dies After Fight With Cancer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Last year, we featured a hockey mom with a mission to spend time with her three boys.

Lynn Acker was fighting cancer and decided to forgo some treatments that would have kept her in the hospital.

Instead the Coon Rapids mother decided to move back home with her husband, Tony.

We profiled her courageous struggle and how the community stepped up to help.

She passed away this week, but did spend precious time with her family. It's an inspirational story about an inspirational woman.

"It's more important for me to have time with them than for me to be wasting away in a hospital bed," she said.

She is survived by her husband and her three children.

She was 38 years old.
