Wolves Fall To Bucks As Former NCAA Stars Take The Court In Madison

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Khris Middleton scored 17 points, Michael Carter-Williams added 16 and the Milwaukee Bucks pulled away in the third quarter for a 106-88 win on Tuesday night over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Carter-Williams scored 11 in the pivotal quarter when the Bucks turned a two-point halftime edge into a 20-point lead. Coach Jason Kidd's student at point guard added seven rebounds and five assists on the night, along with six turnovers.

TIMBERWOLVES: Rookie Karl-Anthony Towns, the first overall pick in this year's draft, had six points and six rebounds in a game played at the Kohl Center, home of the Wisconsin Badgers. The one-and-done center from Kentucky was also serenaded at the foul line with chants of "38-1," the Wildcats' record after getting beaten by Wisconsin in the NCAA Tournament national semifinals. ... Rookie point guard Tyus Jones, the floor general on the Duke team that beat Wisconsin for the national championship, was booed each time he touched the ball. ... Shabazz Muhammad led Minnesota with 18 points.

BUCKS: Former Badgers forward Marcus Landry played in the fourth quarter and finished with five points.

STAR WATCH: Six-foot-11 Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo swooped in along the baseline in the first quarter to convert Chris Copeland's missed 3 into an emphatic dunk. ... Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had 14 points on 3-of-11 shooting.

MIDSEASON FORM: Big man Greg Monroe finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds in 26 minutes.

UP NEXT: The teams wrap up their preseason schedules with a rematch on Friday in Minnesota.
