Deputy Bit By Dog, Another Kicked In Head During Encounter With Woman

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two Stearns County deputies were injured Thursday morning during an incident involving a dog and a woman who was likely on drugs.

Deputies responded to a call just before 11:30 a.m. from a farmer in Lake George Township who said a woman was "whipping donuts" and driving erratically in their yard.

The woman, 25-year-old Morgan Lynn Knutson, was yelling and screaming atop her parked truck when deputies arrived.

She eventually came down and opened the truck door, letting out a large Mastiff dog.

While trying to restrain the woman, the dog bit a deputy's left leg, and the other deputy was kicked in the head. They were both treated and released from Sauk Centre Hospital.

Knutson was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for a mental health evaluation. The dog is being held in quarantine.

The sheriff's office says Knutson will likely face charges for assault, making terroristic threats and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
