Dayton To Hold Water Quality Summit Next Year

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Governor Mark Dayton said Sunday he'll convene a statewide water quality summit in 2016.

The governor announced the summit this weekend at annual meetings of the Minnesota Farm Bureau and the Minnesota Farmers Union. Dayton's office says both rural and urban areas of the state are facing challenges in water supplies.

The summit is designed to focus attention on those challenges and to come up with solutions.

In a statement, the governor cited the belief of his late father, Bruce Dayton, that "stewardship is a profound responsibility of each of us."

The summit will include water quality experts, farmers and legislators. The summit will convene in February.
