Gov. Dayton To Deliver State Of The State Speech At 'U'

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is set to lay out his legislative priorities for Minnesota in his State of the State speech.

Dayton will go before a joint session of the Legislature to give his appraisal of the state on Wednesday night. The Democratic governor has said education and water quality are key issues for him.

Tuesday marked the beginning of a truncated 10-week legislative session in St. Paul. A return of partisan bickering on the first day signaled a tough, gridlocked session ahead.

The usual venue for the governor's speech is in the Minnesota House chambers. A massive restoration project at the Capitol means the space has no room for guests or functioning bathrooms.

Instead the governor will give his speech at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota campus.
