Dayton Responds To State Officials Moving Into Medical Pot Field
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is responding to three state officials going to work for a Minnesota medical marijuana company after being involved in creating the state's law.
Last week, Jamie Olson became the third public official to join LeafLine Labs. She helped the Minnesota House write the law that legalized medical cannabis last year.
Also last week, DFL Rep. Dan Schoen announced he would be a security consultant for the company. He co-sponsored the law in the legislature.
And a former health department leader is now LeafLine's CEO. Manny Munson-Regala ran the office that picked the company to be one of two growers in the state.
"I think people should have right to leave one job and go to another. There's no evidence any of them tried to influence decisions to benefit he company they're joining. At this point, let the free market prevail," Dayton said.
One state Senator is proposing to look at Minnesota's ethics and conflict of interest laws because of these hirings.
