Dayton Orders Flags At Half-Staff After Oregon Shooting

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is ordering flags to be flown at half-staff Tuesday to honor the victims of a mass shooting at an Oregon community college.

Nine people were killed at Umpqua Community College last week before the gunman killed himself. Nine others were wounded in the deadly attack at the Roseburg, Ore. school.

Dayton issued the proclamation on Monday for all state and federal buildings in Minnesota. It follows President Barack Obama's order to lower the flags on Tuesday to honor victims.

Last week, the Democratic governor called the shooting horrible but said he doesn't think Minnesota would pass stronger firearm laws to combat gun violence.
