Dayton, Hodges At Groundbreaking Of North Mpls. Workforce Center

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- North Minneapolis is on its way to providing more resources to people who need jobs.

Gov. Mark Dayton joined officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new, $8 million Workforce Center at 800 West Broadway.

The building will also house an educational center through Minneapolis Public Schools, along with health and wellness services.

Dayton says the announcement comes at a time when the neighborhood needs it most.

"This is a project that epitomizes moving on, moving forward, moving ahead and beginning to build together a better north Minneapolis," Dayton said.

The building has been vacant since 2006. The project is expected to be finished by the fall of 2016.
