Dayton Entered 2014 With $772K Banked For Re-Election

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton entered the election year with $772,000 in his campaign account after expenses.

His campaign released the figure Tuesday. The Democratic governor reported pulling in nearly $1.1 million in 2013.

The amount raised and left entering 2014 exceeds that of any of his Republican challengers.

Dayton campaign manager Katharine Tinucci says the candidate didn't put any personal money into the campaign account. He contributed nearly $4 million during his 2010 campaign.

A change in state law allowed candidates for governor to accept up to $4,000 per donor, which is more than previously permitted.
