Dayton Circles Date For State Of State Speech

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton has circled a date on his April calendar to deliver a State of the State speech to a joint session of the Minnesota Legislature.

Dayton said Wednesday that he's prepared to give the address on April 23, which is soon after lawmakers return from a spring recess.

Minnesota governors usually give the road-map speech early in session. But Dayton had hip surgery and a lengthy recovery that kept him away from the Capitol in the opening weeks.

Lawmakers will be away from the Capitol from April 11 through April 21. The session must adjourn by May 19.
