Day Care Owner In Moorhead Guilty Of Neglect

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — A former day care owner in Moorhead has pleaded guilty to neglect and child endangerment after police found her drunk at her home.

Fifty-four-year-old Jayne Cote was given a six-month suspended jail sentence and ordered to pay a fine and fees.

KFGO radio reports that Cote admitted she was drunk and took prescription pain pills when she cared for three children in her home day care last fall. Police arrived at her home in October and found she had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent.

Cote apologized at plea hearing, and said she has finished treatment and hasn't had a drink since October.

Her attorney, Jade Rosenfeldt, says the plea agreement was fair.
