Day 16 @ MSPIFF 2015: 'The End Of The Tour' (Not) Reviewed

I sort of thought it would be fun to write a review of the new film The End of the Tour as short as David Foster Wallace's masterpiece Infinite Jest is long.

So ... yeah.

Red Knot (Scott Cohen, USA) Mad Men star and Minnesota native Vincent Kartheiser stars with Olivia Thirlby in this drama about a husband and wife setting sail (so to speak) to the Antarctic. Kartheiser and director Scott Cohen will be on hand at the screening. (4:30 p.m.)

Slow West (John Maclean, UK) Who says Brits can't do dusty westerns? Well, probably no one, but if they did, Slow West would prove them wrong. Kodi Smit-McPhee stars as a teenage aristocrat who comes to America and is taken in by Silas (Michael Fassbender). (4:45 p.m.)

Alléluia (Fabrice Du Welz, Belgium) If you take a good hard look at the last 15 years of bloody cinema, you'll find that France is one of the undisputable hotbeds for the genre. Alléluia, based on the classic 1969 cult film The Honeymoon Killers, is technically Belgian, but looks like it will carry the torch admirably. (10 p.m.)
