MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 64-year-old man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for the 1983 rape and killing of a Minneapolis teenager.

On Tuesday, Darrell Rea was specifically sentenced to 121 months in prison, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Last month, a Hennepin County judge found Rea guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Laurie Mesedahl.

The teen's body was found along railroad tracks in north Minneapolis.

Prosecutors say DNA evidence linked Rea to the murder.

Rea has denied the accusations.
