Dakota County Sheriff Takes On #LipSyncChallenge With 'Jailhouse Rock'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A new viral craze is sweeping metro law enforcement that involves police officers and sheriff's deputies singing and dancing.

Apple Valley Police say they were struggling with what to do for the "Running Man Challenge," So they decided to start the "Lip Sync Challenge."

They started with a video singing along to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," and challenged Dakota County Sheriff's Department for a response.

Dakota County upped the ante with a performance by County Attorney Jim Backstrom as Elvis, showing off their skills on roller blades and skateboards, and had a courtroom dance party.

Part of the video includes officers parachuting out of an airplane.
