Cupid The Dog Is On The Mend After Leg Surgery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A few months ago, WCCO introduced you to a puppy who needed a little help.

Cupid was first found on Valentine's Day in a snow bank, and was taken in by Ruff Start Rescue. Both of his front legs were bowed out due to a deformity, making it tough for him to walk.

He underwent a successful surgery in March at the University of Minnesota, where veterinarians removed a small piece of bone from each leg and then reset them.

Cupid now has his casts off and is still learning to walk, and his muscle mass should improve in the next three weeks.

Azure Davis of Ruff Start Rescue said that due to WCCO's coverage, they were overwhelmed by the flood of people looking to adopt Cupid. They are no longer accepting applications, but they're looking over potential candidates and should make their decision in the near future.

Davis said all the attention generated by Cupid has helped so many other rescue dogs from their organization find new homes.
