Family Members Mourn Woman Killed In North Mpls. Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Family and friends gathered Sunday to mourn a woman who was found shot to death in north Minneapolis Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at Newton Avenue North and 30th Avenue North around 8 p.m. Saturday. Sunday night, a group went to the crime scene to hold a prayer vigil.

Minneapolis police have not released the victim's name, but family members identify her as 36-year-old mother Crystal Collins.

Family members say they don't know why Collins was shot. She leaves behind three teenage children.

"She had a really infectious laugh," said sister Tyheesha Collins. "She was a good person, she was a loving person. Your kids were her kids. Your kids were her godchildren."

Police said shortly after the shooting, two male gunshot victims showed up to North Memorial Medical Center.
