Crow Wing County Hit Hard By Sunday Storms

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Severe thunderstorms are rolling across Minnesota Sunday night, and the Brainerd/Baxter area appears to be one of the communities hit hard early on.

A dispatcher with the Brainerd Police Department said there are several reports of trees and power lines down in the city. There were also some reports of small fires, likely started by lightning strikes.

The Grand View Lodge resort had reports of several trees down and some minor damage. Cragun's Resort nearby also had very heavy rain and reports of trees down due to the storms. Several trees were down and blocking the road on Highway 371 in the Brainerd/Baxter area.

There have been no early reports of any injuries associated with Sunday's storms.

Severe weather was hitting Carver, Wright and Hennepin Counties by about 11 p.m. Sunday, packing torrential rains and very strong winds.
