Crime Alert: Sex Assault Reported Near U Of M

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials at the University of Minnesota say police are investigating after a sexual assault was reported over the weekend.

A crime alert from the university says the assault happened Saturday night near campus.

The victim told authorities she was walking on University Avenue in Minneapolis, between 10th and 13th avenues, when a man offered her a ride.

She got into the car and rode with the man, who drove to an unknown location.

Later, after the victim returned home, her roommate called police on her behalf, saying she'd been sexually assaulted.

The victim told authorities that the suspect was multi-racial with a medium complexion, short black hair and acne scarring on his face. He may have been driving a red, two-door car.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the assault is asked to call Minneapolis police at 612-692-8477.
