St. Paul Duplex Condemned Following Overnight Fire

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Firefighters braved the cold early Monday morning to battle a house fire in St. Paul.

Fire officials say crews responded shortly after 4 a.m. to flames shooting out of the duplex on the 900 block of Fremont Avenue East, in the city's Dayton's Bluff neighborhood.

As firefighters were searching the home, the roof began to fail, so they backed out. Later, it was confirmed that no one was inside.

The duplex was condemned. The cause of the fire is under investigation, although officials say it's presumed to be accidental.

The Red Cross is helping those displaced by the fire.
