3 townhomes damaged in northern Minnesota fire; no injuries

Minnesota digs out from March blizzard, and more headlines

Three townhomes in Lusten, Minnesota, were damaged in a fire on Monday afternoon, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

The blaze at Caribou Highlands Resort was reported around 1:53 p.m. The sheriff's office said at least one person at that time saw smoke coming out of the back of the building that contained the three townhomes. Flames were reported less than five minutes later.

Officials said the building was "completely engulfed" at one point. Odyssey Resorts, which owns Caribou Highlands Resort, said in a Facebook post that the extent of damage was being evaluated.

According to the sheriff's office, no injuries have been reported and the State Fire Marshal has been notified.

Firefighters from Lutsen, Tofte, Schroder and Grand Marais responded to the incident.

Lutsen is around 93 miles northeast of Duluth.
