Multiple People Injured When Bus Driver Crashes On I-94

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The State Patrol is investigating a crash with injuries on Interstate 94 Saturday night.

According to State Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. on eastbound 94 at Highway 241 in St. Michael.

A bus driver transporting the Highland Community College basketball team back to Freeport, Illinois, had an unknown medical episode, sending the bus into the median. The bus struck trees and a freeway sign before briefly re-entering I-94 and finally coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver was transported to North Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Five passengers were transported to Monticello Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Four more people were injured, but not require hospitalization. The remaining passengers were uninjured.

The team was heading home from the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
