Cowles Center To Present Breakdancing Battle

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Breakdancing crews from across the Twin Cities will face off in a tournament style competition in downtown Minneapolis next month.

The Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts is hosting the sixth annual Groundbreaker Battle on Sept. 13 from noon to 8 p.m.

Local breaker crews will compete for cash prizes. They'll be judged by well-known B-boy and B-girl crews from around the country.

There also will be a hip-hop dance and beat boxing workshop, a graffiti installation and performances by musicians Up Rock and Ill Chemistry.

The event is free and open to the public.
