Court Date Set For Vikes' Johnson After Nightclub Arrest
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A hearing date has been set for Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Tom Johnson following his arrest after allegedly refusing to leave a downtown Minneapolis restaurant.
Johnson was taken into custody by Minneapolis Police earlier this month at Seven Steakhouse Sushi Ultralounge Skybar. According to the police report, security repeatedly told Johnson to leave the building.
Johnson claims restaurant security asked him to leave for wearing boots in the restaurant, even though he said he had been wearing them throughout the evening and was never told to leave before.
He refused to leave, resisted officers at the scene. He says he was pepper sprayed before being forced outside the restaurant.
He was taken to the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of trespassing and disorderly conduct. The police report says officers used a conducted energy device, such as a stun gun or Taser, on Johnson before he was arrested.
Johnson did not appear in court at his arraignment on Friday morning, but was represented by his attorney at the Hennepin County Courthouse.
A pre-trial hearing has been set for the morning of Dec. 9.
