Police ID Couple In Woodbury Murder-Suicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in Woodbury have identified the couple who died in a murder-suicide last Friday.

Authorities received a call at about 2:45 p.m. on May 20 of someone reporting they were concerned that there was no activity for several days at a residence on the 8000 block of Spring View Alcove.

Police officers broke a window to get into the home just after 4 p.m. and discovered the bodies of two elderly people, dead from a murder-suicide. Authorities say their bodies were found in separate bedrooms in the upper level of the home.

Authorities say based on an investigation and preliminary autopsy results, it appears a man killed a woman by blunt force trauma before hanging himself. Police identified the couple as 85-year-old Beverly Miller and 72-year-old James Miller.

The couple had been married for about 40 years and had lived at the residence for the last 15 years. What led up to the incident is still under investigation.
