Police Seek Suspect In Cottage Grove Domestic Situation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Cottage Grove police say they are looking for a suspect after a man possibly armed inside a residence and making threats Monday morning left the residence before authorities could enter.

Officers responded to a residence on the 8200 block of Jody Lane South at about 4:23 a.m. on a report of a domestic situation. According to a 911 call, the suspect had made verbal threats of violence while brandishing a handgun.

Police say residents were able to leave the home while officers were on scene.

It was not known at the time of the call if the suspect was still inside the house. Negotiators made several attempts to contact the suspect, who didn't answer his phone and didn't reciprocate contact. Members of the Washington County SWAT team entered the residence, and found that the suspect had left before officers arrived.

Cottage Grove police say they are still actively investigating the incident, and the suspect is known to residents.

Residents in the area were notified during the incident to shelter in place, but eventually the order was lifted and the area was cleared.
