Heavy flames prevented crews from going inside the home, so firefighters fought to extinguish the fire from the outside.

The home was determined to be a complete loss. Two neighboring homes were also damaged.

No injuries were reported. The residents of the home were all outside of the house when crews arrived.

According to the Cottage Grove Department of Public Safety, crews went to the neighbors to make sure they were out and found they were out of town.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
