Coronavirus Updates: The Latest COVID-19 Headlines From March 29, 2020

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Today is Sunday, March 29 and the second official day of the Gov. Tim Walz's stay-at-home order. He has directed Minnesotans to stay at home for two weeks, only leaving for essential activities, such as getting groceries and exercise. State health officials announced Sunday that the number of positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Minnesota has risen to 503, up from 441 on Saturday. Four more people also died, bringing the death total to nine.

Here are the latest updates on the COVID-19 pandemic:

8:30 p.m.: President Donald Trump announced the nationwide social distancing guidelines will remain in place until April 30.
4:20 p.m.: Minnesotans filing for unemployment insurance benefits are now being asked to request benefits only on a specific weekday, assigned by the last digit of their Social Security number.
1:58 p.m.: There are now 1,112 cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. Thirteen residents have died.
1:23 p.m.: Mid-Minnesota Women's Center, Inc. announces that services remain available through COVID-19 pandemic.
12:38 p.m.: Group activities that are not in compliance with obvious physical and social distancing will be banned in Edina effective March 30.
11:20 a.m.: Five new COVID-19 cases reported in St. Louis County.
11:00 a.m.:MDH reports 4 more have died due to COVID-19. There are now 503 cases and 9 deaths in Minnesota.
9:53 a.m.: Anoka County Sheriff's Office suspends new Permit to Carry license applications.
9:17 a.m.: The City of St. Paul has a new phone line and email address to answer questions about the City's response to COVID-19. Learn more here.

Last night: President Trump now says a "quarantine will not be necessary" for the New York area. Instead, he has asked for a travel advisory to be put in place.
