MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- President Trump says the government will purchase $3 billion of dairy, meat, and produce from U.S. farmers for "Food Lines & Kitchens," starting early next week.
Here are the latest headlines in the COVID-19 pandemic:
- 7:00 p.m.: Minnesota Nurses Association organizes march, set for May 20th, from United Hospital to the State Capitol. The march is in response to lack of PPE and scrubs for nurses, and comes after a nurse at United Hospital was fired for wearing hospital scrubs.
- 6:38 p.m.: New program from Land O' Lakes is using their network of co-ops to help increase rural broadband access during the COVID-19 pandemic
- 6:38 p.m.: Starting May 13, Delta will suspend service at 10 U.S. stations in markets with more than one Delta-served airport to allow more front line employees to minimize COVID-19 exposure risk while customer traffic is low.
- 4:04 p.m.: Wisconsin's latest COVID-19 numbers: 349 new cases since yesterday, for a total of 9,939. 398 deaths, up 14 from yesterday with 1,806 hospitalizations, up 39 from yesterday.
- 2:56 p.m.: State Sen. Carla Nelson asks Gov. Walz to allow schools to come up with creative graduation ceremonies.
- 2:14 p.m.: President Trump: U.S. government to buy dairy, meat, and produce from farmers.
- 1:41 p.m.: Polk County, Minnesota confirms first COVID-19 death.
- 1:30 p.m.: The 2020 season of Minnesota American Legion baseball has been cancelled.
- 1:15 p.m.: Cass and Clay counties have confirmed a combined total of 1,014 COVID-19 cases and 42 deaths due to complications from the disease.
- 1 p.m.: A nurse at Allina Health's United Hospital says he was fired from his job on Friday because he wore hospital scrubs on duty, violating the organization's uniform policy.
- 11:30 a.m.: The Guthrie Theater plans to lay off some staff after moving its re-opening date to March 2021. On a much smaller operating budget, the 2021 season will now feature just three productions.
- 11 a.m.: The Minnesota Department of Health reported 702 more COVID-19 cases on Saturday -- with another 24 deaths.
- 8:15 a.m.: The University of Minnesota's athletic department is bracing for a $75 million loss of expected revenue in the worst-case scenario of no fall sports and thus no televised football games.
