Cops: St. Cloud Man Arrested After Hammer Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in St. Cloud say a man was arrested early Sunday morning after hitting an acquaintance in the head with a hammer.

The St. Cloud Police Department said it got a call about an assault shortly after 2:30 a.m. at the 500 block of Highway 10 South.

When officers got to the scene, they learned Samvang Phrachansiry, of St. Cloud, had hit a 54-year-old man in the head with a hammer.

Officers found Phrachansiry at his nearby house and arrested him. He was booked into the Benton County Jail pending formal charges of second-degree assault.

The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
