1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized After Car Crashes Into Motorcycles In Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One man is dead and two people are hospitalized after a car crashed into two motorcycles in north Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred near the intersection of 23rd Avenue North and Penn Avenue North, according to Minneapolis Police.
Two men on separate motorcycles were traveling southbound on Penn Avenue North when a car pulled into the intersection, heading westbound on 23rd Avenue North.
The driver hit both men, then drove up onto the sidewalk and crashed into a fence pole on a residential lawn. Police believe the bikers had the right of way.
The driver of the car and the two motorcyclists were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where one of the bikers was pronounced dead.
There is no word on the conditions of the surviving motorists. The identities of those involved have not been released by authorities.
Both motorcyclists were not wearing helmets.
Penn Avenue between West Broadway Avenue and 21st Avenue was closed while Minneapolis Police Department's Traffic Unit reconstructed the crash.
Police say the investigation is on-going.
