Coon Rapids Woman Killed In Isanti County Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 68-year-old Coon Rapids woman has died after the car she was in drifted off of an Isanti County road and struck a tree Friday afternoon.

Authorities received a report of a crash just before 2 p.m. A witness says the vehicle, a 2012 Kia Sedona, was traveling southbound on Highway 47 near 253rd Avenue North when it drifted onto the right shoulder, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The vehicle then hit a tree, which sheared off the front passenger-side compartment and door.

The victim's name has not yet been released. The driver, 68-year-old Denis Tadych, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He is also from Coon Rapids.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
