Construction To Begin On Arlington Avenue In Duluth

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Construction will begin on a two-mile stretch of Arlington Avenue in Duluth Monday.

The resurfacing and overlay project spans 2.8 miles of Arlington Avenue from Trinity Road to Arrowhead Road.

As the road is one of the busiest in St. Louis County, being traveled on by roughly 11,000 cars every day, portions will be shut down completely so work can be completed faster.

On August 17, Arlington Avenue will be closed between Trinity Road and Central Entrance for 15 days. On Sept. 7, the road will be closed between Central Entrance and Arrowhead Road for another 15 days.

The project is estimated to cost $2.6 million, with $500,00 coming from the Transportation Sales Tax revenue.

Originally scheduled to take place next year, the county was able to accelerate it to be completed in 2015.

It is expected to be completed in mid-to-late October.
