Construction Begins On New Solar Installation At MSP

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Construction of the largest solar energy project in Minnnesota is now underway at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport.

The new solar installation will be built on the top deck of the Terminal 1 parking ramps.

When it's up and running, it will generate enough energy to handle about 20 percent of the airport's power supply.

It's also increasing the state's total solar capacity by about 20 percent.

Additionally, the $25.4 million solar project will create 250 new jobs.

The project should be complete by next October.

It's expected to save the airport hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
