Company Must Reimburse Students Who Prepaid Exam Fees

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- An Indiana company has been ordered to reimburse hundreds of nursing students in Minnesota who prepaid exam fees.

Attorney General Lori Swanson sued The College Network, a company sells study guides to help students who want to become registered nurses pass equivalency exams for college credits through an online degree program.

Students prepaid up to $4,000 for the cost of proficiency exams administered by testing companies. The lawsuit says The College Network failed to pay the exam fees to the students so they could pay the testing companies

Under the order from Anoka County District Court, The College Network must promptly reimburse exam fees to existing students and is barred from taking on additional students. Numerous complaints and litigation against the company are pending in several other states. The company did not immediately respond to an email for comment.
