Como Zoo In St. Paul To Kick Off Centennial Celebration

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Como Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul is planning to celebrate its 100th birthday this weekend.

The Centennial Celebration Weekend kicks off Friday at 9:30 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the new Centennial Garden. The garden is a nod to the traditional European landscape gardens that drew visitors to Como early in the 20th century.

On Friday night, the conservatory dome will be lit purple. Visitors can attend a free outdoor concert that evening featuring the Twin Cities indie band "i like you," followed by a showing of the 1986 cult movie musical "Little Shop of Horrors."

On Saturday, all couples — whether they were married at the Como conservatory gardens or not — are invited to renew their vows in a special noon ceremony.
