Community Helps Clean Up High School Baseball Field

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – More than 50 people volunteered Saturday morning to help clean up the baseball field at Roseville Area High School.

It was in such bad shape after the winter that the school considered not having any games played there.

"We're trying to get outside, we may not even get on our own field and the season's already started. So any time you get the chance to play a home game, it helps your team out very much," head coach Mike Ponsolle said.

Volunteers edged the grass, raked the infield and patched as many problems as they could.

"It's just great to be part of Roseville, and again, uh, be a part of the community that's willing to give up their time for the students of our community," activities director Jeff Whisler said.

While volunteers spent the morning fixing it up, it may still be a few more weeks before the team is able to use the field.
