Comic Con Invades Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you're in downtown Minneapolis this weekend, you're bound to see some interesting characters.

Thousands will be in town for the Minneapolis Wizard World Comic Con.

"Some of the outfits you see are very impressive, and then some of them are interesting," vendor Michael Crane said.

Vendors were busy setting up Thursday and Friday morning, getting ready for the convention that's expected to bring tens of thousands of people to Minneapolis.

"These comic conventions are like a big pop culture event," Tiffany Donmoyer, who owns Rocky Mountain Dragons, said. "Eerybody can come and you're going to find something you like."

Chuck Mayfield has collected and sold comics for 50 years. More common collectables can go for a few bucks, but rare ones can cost a lot more.

"A single issue can go for $2 million," Mayfield said.

Comic Con regulars say Spider-Man is always popular, but the Avengers characters are a hot item this year with Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" hitting the box office this weekend.
