Co. Attorney: Rosemount Woman Was 3X Legal Limit While Driving Kids

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say a Rosemount woman was driving around with young children while her blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit.

The Dakota County Attorney's Office says Samantha Denise Falkenberg, 22, was pulled over by Rosemount police last Thursday evening after they noticed her vehicle was swerving around in its lane.

The officer said Falkenberg's eyes were bloodshot and watery, her speech was slurred and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from her and the vehicle.

The criminal complaint says Falkenberg, who had two children -- ages 1 and 3 -- in the vehicle, eventually admitted to driving drunk.

She agreed to a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test, which determined that she was beyond the legal limit to drive.

She later submitted to a DMT breath test at the Rosemount Police Department, which showed her breath-alcohol content was .27. The legal limit is .08.

Falkenberg was charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree driving while impaired and one count of child endangerment.

The date of her first court appearance has not released.
