Christmas Tree Stolen From Fallen Police Officer's Grave

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –   Stillwater police hope someone can help them find whoever stole a Christmas tree from the gravesite of a fallen police officer.

The tree was taken from Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater, from the gravesite of Officer Josh Lynaugh.

St. Paul Officer Josh Lynaugh died of a heart attack in February of 2013 after chasing a young man who had run from police.

He was 30 years old.

The family of Officer Lynaugh says they are in disbelief, but feel mostly sadness, not anger, toward the person, or people, who did this.

The family says this happened sometime overnight the Friday before Thanksgiving.

They visit almost every day and have now replaced the 4-foot tree and blue lights that used to be there with a smaller tree.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Stillwater Police Department.
