Sheriff: Disturbed Man Enters Couple's Home, Fires Shots

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Lindstrom man was given a mental health evaluation after entering a home and firing several gunshots, claiming people were coming after him.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office says a homeowner called 911 to report that a man, later identified as 32-year-old Brian Alan Anderson, had come into their house in Chisago Lakes Township.

Anderson told them people were chasing him and crawling through the walls to get him.

The homeowners, a husband and wife, locked themselves in their bedroom, while Anderson went to their laundry room. Investigators say he fired three shots inside the home during the incident.

The husband escaped the home via fire ladder, but the wife was unable to do so.

A deputy was able to convince Anderson by phone to exit the home, and he eventually did so through the laundry room window before being taken into custody.

The homeowners were not injured. Investigators say Anderson was either on drugs or suffering from mental illness.

The sheriff's office says they plan to charge Anderson with discharging a firearm while endangering others.
