Police: Child, 8, Hurt In Brooklyn Park Hit-And-Run

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say an 8-year-old child is in the hospital Monday night after a hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park police responded to the incident at about 7 p.m. on the 7200 block of Zane Avenue. When officers arrived, a child had been hit by a pick-up truck and had to be taken to a hospital. Authorities say the child suffered a broken ankle and other bruises, but the injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The driver fled the scene. Police are looking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Authorities say they are looking for a red pick-up truck and are investigating the incident. It's not known how fast the truck was traveling at the time of the incident. Authorities say it appears the child may have run out in front of the truck.
