Record Crowd Expected For Chelsea/A.C. Milan Match At U.S. Bank Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials say more than 55,00 seats have been sold for the first significant sporting invent to take place at U.S. Bank Stadium, the new home for the Minnesota Vikings.

Chelsea will host A.C. Milan on Wednesday, Aug. 3, for a soccer match as part of the International Champions Cup. The match is on pace to set the attendance record for a soccer match in Minnesota. The old record is 46,370, which was set in 1978 at Metropolitan Stadium when the Minnesota Kicks faced the New York Cosmos.

The match is slated for 8 p.m., and a limited number of tickets are still available.

The Vikings will play two preseason games at U.S. Bank Stadium. The first is set for Aug. 28 against the San Diego Chargers.

The Vikings will have their first regular season game at their new home against the rival Green Bay Packers oat 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18.
