Charges: Montevideo Man Left Child In Car To Drink At Bar

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 27-year-old Montevideo man is accused of drinking at a bar earlier this month while leaving a small child inside a vehicle sleeping with the car running, according to police.

Montevideo police said Christopher Jasperson was charged with child endangerment in connection with the case. He was arrested just after midnight on Valentine's Day.

According to police, officers received a report of a small child sleeping inside a car outside of a bar. When police arrived, a 2-year-old child was asleep in a car seat inside the running car while Jasperson was inside the bar drinking.

Officers performed a preliminary breath test of Jasperson, who registered a blood alcohol content of .23, nearly three times the legal limit for driving in Minnesota. He was arrested and charged with child endangerment. The child was released to a relative.

The incident remains under investigation.
