Charges: Man Found With 2.5lbs Of Synthetic Pot Intending To Distribute

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Ironton man has been sentenced to 54 months in prison after being found with nearly two-and-a-half pounds of synthetic marijuana.

Wesley John Hanson, 31, has been charged with possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to the Crow Wing County Sherriff's Office, the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division began an investigation in March 2014.

LADID received a search warrant for Hanson's house. During their search, officials found a large amount of synthetic marijuana.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said there was also evidence that Hanson had been selling to people in the Brainerd and Crosby areas.

LADID agents presented Hanson's case to the United States Attorney due to the amount of drugs and Hanson's criminal history.

On Nov. 3, 2014, LADID agents learned that Hanson had been indicted by a federal grand jury on possession with intent  to distrubte charges.

On June 30 Hanson pleaded guilty to federal officials. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
